Wolfeboro Community Garden Project

Ask any Wolfeboro native about the community garden at the end of Goodrich road and you are bound to hear about the infamous potatoe patch. Believe it or not, this now overgrown plot was used as a community garden, or what some might call a "victory garden" during the 50's-70's. The original bequest of the land followed the death of Greenleaf Clark on Nov, 30, 1929. Clark offered in his will ".... nine acre field for practical agriculture and other needs which our public school may need now or future outgrowth of practical sciences which are the uplift of our present education." Thank you Greenleaf Cark.

A community garden steering committe has recently been established to help fulfill Clark's bequest. The goals for the nine-acre plot include managed wetlands, managed forest, walking path, wildlife sanctuary, and a community garden. The community garden steering committee invites local residents to get involved in bringing this gift of land back to life. The steering committee includes -

Bruce Farr, Forest Manager at Kingswood VOC
John Foster, Life Ministries Food Pantry
Michael Hodder, Wolfeboro Conservation Commission
Dan Coons, Wolfeboro Conservation Commission
Rhonda Alden, Master Gardener
Susan Poirier, Master Gardener
Tina Savage, UNH Cooperative Extension
Shawn Papp, Natural Landscapes
Josh Arnold, Global Awarness Local Action (G.A.L.A.)
