Lakes Region Localvore Challenge

The Lakes Region Localvore Challenge is a program inspired and modeled after The Localvore Project, a coalition of local food groups throughout New Hampshire and Vermont. As a grassroots effort that started in 2006, The Localvore Project drew over 1,000 official participants during its first year and nearly double that in 2007. The local foods focus provides a mechanism for learning about local food systems while enjoying the fun of a "challenge" undertaken with family and neighbors.

All community members are invited to participate in this eat local challenge by committing to eat only foods grown or raised within 100 miles of their home for a meal, day, week, or month. Participants can choose exceptions for spices, leaveners, and “wild cards” (i.e. coffee, chocolate, etc.). More information and a challenge signup sheet will also be available at Wolfeboro-Area Farmers' Market.
